How to Soothe and Protect Your Skin After Waxing

Sadiah

Caring for your skin after waxing is essential to soothe irritation, prevent ingrown hairs, and maintain that smooth, silky feel. Avoiding hot showers, saunas, and direct sunlight for at least 24 hours post waxing is crucial, as heat can exacerbate irritation.

Preventing ingrown hairs is another critical aspect of post waxing care. Ingrown hairs occur when hair grows back into the skin rather than up and out. To avoid this, exfoliate the waxed area gently after 48 hours using Ruff Stuff Daily Scrub which can be purchased direct from me at your appointment. This helps remove dead skin cells that can clog hair follicles and create ingrown hairs. It's important to exfoliate regularly, Ruff Stuff Scrub can and should be used daily to really help prevent ingrown hairs and leave your skin silky smooth. Wearing loose fitting clothing can also help reduce friction and allow the skin to breathe, further preventing the development of ingrown hairs.

Maintaining smooth skin between waxing sessions involves a combination of moisturising and proper care. Hydrated skin is less prone to irritation and dryness, so make it a habit to apply a gentle, non comedogenic moisturiser daily. Keeping the skin hydrated ensures that it remains supple and smooth. Additionally, avoid using harsh chemicals or products with strong fragrances on the waxed area, as these can cause irritation.

Stay consistent with your waxing appointments, you should have a wax every every four to six weeks, to ensure the hair grows back finer and sparser over time, making each session more manageable and less uncomfortable.
